Boulder, CO (September 27, 2016) – Active Interest Media (aimmedia.com) today announced the promotion of Sharon Houghton to Group Publisher for BACKPACKER and Climbing, two marquis brands in AIM’s Outdoor Group. In her new role, Houghton will be responsible for driving sales across both brands’ diverse media platforms; managing profitability; delivering content, advertising, and management solutions that drive new revenue streams; and working in tandem with the editorial department to establish brand position in the marketplace. Houghton is the first female publisher for both brands.

Houghton joined AIM in 2010 as the Outdoor Group’s Rocky Mountain Sales Manager. As one of AIMs top performing sales reps, Houghton nearly doubled sales in her initial territory then continued to grow sales on average 15% year-over-year. She was later promoted to National Sales Director, where, she grew revenue across both brands by 6% in her first year. Before joining AIM, she had various sales and marketing roles in both the healthcare and fitness industries.
